Shinn Adam Daniel Shinn born in Pope County in 1868, was a grandson of Benjamin Daniel Ransom Shinn (born April 3, 1802 -died Aug 17, 1874) , who came to Pope County from North Carolina in 1840, with his wife, Martha Tucker Shinn and four children, bought land near Caglesville. Adam Daniel or A.D., as he was known, married Lida Rye, in 1890. She was the daughter of Jackson and Sarah Bond Rye, pioneers of Pope County. The family farmed near London, Ppe County, until 1904, when they moved to Russellville. A.D. was a farmer, landowner, banker and merchant, active in both County and state Politics, served two terms as County Clerk and two as County Judge, 1904-1912. He owned farms in Oklahoma and Western Texas as well as in Pope County. Farmed on the river below London and on the bayou at Outia which went under water when the Dardanelle Dam was built. He spent his entire life in Pope County and died in 1945 and is buried in the May Cemetery, near London. He was a member of the Christian Church. Two sons and three daughters were born to A.D. nad Lida Shinn -- Gladys, Floy who died young, Homer Ransom, John Calvin and Mary Alive.
