Read More	Obituary: Adam Keil Dies On Tuesday Adam Keil died Tuesday morning, March 20, 1934, at his home in Ladora, Iowa, at the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 17 days. He was born in Johnson County, Iowa, son of John and Magdalena Kunz Keil. When a child, with his parents, they moved to a farm near Genoa Bluff, Iowa, where he resided until 1882, when he became a partner in a general store at Ladora, conducted under the firm name of Kohl, Keil and Merchant. The following year, at Genoa Bluff, he was married to Louise C. Tanner, by the Rev. M.D. Archer. The next year, having disposed of his interest in the store at Ladora, he returned to farming, in Pilot Township, moving the next year to a farm in Sumner Township where they resided until 1916, when they made their residence in Grinnell, Iowa, for one year. After building their new home in Ladora, they came there, where he lived until his death. Funeral services will be held at the home, Thursday, March 22nd at 2 P.M., conducted by the Rev. Robert Chord assisted by the Rev. Hugh Williams, and interment at the Genoa Bluff cemetery, with his nephews as pall bearers. He is survived by his wife and four children, John of Ladora, Mrs. Mae Shaull of Ladora, Mrs. Maude Kuch of Williamsburg and Leslie of Marengo, and fourteen grandchildren, also by two brothers, C.C. Keil of Ladora and Lewis Keil of Williamsburg, and one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Morse of Keswick, Iowa. His parents and three brothers, Charles, John, and Paul preceded him in death. While living at Ladora, he managed the Morse and Keil farms adjoining town. He was a director of the Ladora Savings Bank for thirty years. Seven years ago he had a severe illness from which he never fully recovered, his heart being left in a very weakened condition. Never the less, when his services were needed in the program sponsored by the present Federal Administration, he gave beyond his strength, and this contributed to his last illness. He was a member of the Genoa Bluff Congregational Church, which he served faithfully for many years. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. and Modern Woodmen Fraternities. His keen interest in his home, his children and their families have been a marked feature of his life, and his many friends in Iowa County will testify to his sympathy and understanding. Adam Keil came with his parents to Iowa County at the age of 2 years and in Sumner Township he grew to his maturity, and 68 of his 70 years were spent in the old home neighborhood. He was a man of most exemplary character and his contribution to the betterment of Iowa county was a noteworthy achievement in the many fields of activity in which he took a leading part. A man of noble and inspiring impulses, his leadership in spiritual, civic, and educational affairs will be long remembered as a golden inheritance. No worthy movement ever lacked his untiring support, and his valuable assistance was never marked by a motive that revealed a selfish spirit. He gave that others might be prospered or advantaged, and his disposition in this direction increased by the praiseworthy intentions upon which it was so lavishly nourished. His heart and hand were as charitable as the daylight that shines for all; as husband and father the type of the ideal as friend and neighbor he won the plaudits of all who knew him, and when he passed it was as the closing of a life that was a stranger to guile and today there is a lonesome place against the sky that canopies the area in which he was so widely known and loved.
