To them were born seven children all of whom are living and were able to attend the funeral. Frank J., of Chicago; Mrs. M.J. Murphy, of Rockwell; Mrs. Tom Finnegan and Mrs. Gus Theobald, of Marshall, Minnesota; Mrs. Henry Kleespies, of Manning; Joe H., and Edward, of Carroll. The latter was called only last week to service at Camp Forrest, Georgia. Joseph Ries a cousin of the deceased, from Eldora, Iowa, also attended the funeral. Mr. Ries started the first green house in Carroll which he conducted until 1899 when he sold the business to the present owner. Since then Mr. Ries has been interested in fruit farming and truck gardening and with the aid of his two younger sons had worked up a very successful business. Mass was held at SS. Peter and Paul's church Monday morning at 10 o'clock but the burial did not take place until one o'clock as it was impossible for Ed to reach here before that hour.
