Description	:	Daughter Christine (Kaufman) Punzo: When Lulu Helzer was married to Ralph Gray, they produced a child that Lulu named Ada Viola. Mother later called herself Adamae which sounded more romantic (perhaps, anyway). Mother's birth took place on April 13th, 1898. Daughter Jacquilyn Ruth (Kaufman) Garrett wrote in her book, "Long, Long thoughts. . .", 1998: My mother, Ada Mae Viola Gray Kaufman Wright, was raised in the Nicholas Helzer household. Right after Mother was born, Grandma got a divorce from Ralph Gray and she and my infant mother moved back to the Helzer home. ... Right after Mother was born, Grandma got a divorce from Ralph Gray and she and my infant mother moved back to the Helzer home. Mother enjoyed playing with the two youngest children, an aunt, Myrtle and an uncle, Clifford. Mother, Chris and I often took hikes in the country and Mother would encourage us to look for the beauty of birds, flowers, rocks and trees. We had a book called "Flower Children" which taught us the names of lots of familiar flowers and also wild flowers. Mother was creative, making doll houses out of cardboard boxes and wall papering the walls. This was the time of the depression so there were no doll houses for us that cost money. She made beds of a cigar box with a cardboard head and spool legs and dressers of match boxes papered in bright wallpaper and even a little mirror on top. She made home-made dolls for our surprise from Santa at Christmas.
