Description	:	PRIVATE US MARINE CORPS WORLD WAR II Addison Nelson Gormley entered the Marine Corps in 1944 from Bondurant, Iowa. Completed recruit training in the 5th Recruit Training Battalion, MCB San Diego, CA. Assigned to the 3rd Training Battalion, 2nd Infantry Training, MCB Camp Pendleton, CA. Trained and designated a Rifleman (MOS 745). 8 November, 1944 assigned to the 24th Replacement Draft and embarked the liberty ship SS George B McClellan at San Diego for movement overseas. 27 November, 1944 arrived at Maui where the 24th Replacement Draft was attached to the 4th Marine Division. 1 January, 1945 embarked the USS Logan (APA-196) at... Landed later and assigned as an infantry replacement in B Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines, 4th Marine Division. Participated in combat operations until Wounded in Action 15 March, 1945. Evacuated to a USN Hospital on Guam. Died of Wounds 20 March, 1945. Next of Kin: Sister, Miss Dorothy A Gormley, 710 Euclid Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Parents, Mr Nelson B Gormley (1880- )and Mrs Lavenia Gormley (1887-1938). Initially buried in USAF Cemetery Guam # 2 at Agat, Gaum. 1948 returned to the US for permanent burial in Bondurant Cemetery, Bondurant, Iowa
