Description	:	Adela Charlotte Johannsen Jensen was born to Peter W. and Anna Stier Johannsen on the family farm in Soldier Township, Crawford County, Iowa on October 27. 1902. She was called to her heavenly home on September 9, 2002. Adela resided alone in her home for many years. Recently, cancer required her to be hospitalized briefly and Hospice care was provided. Her mother died on December 24, 1904 and she was raised by her father and step-mother, Mathilda Jochims Groth Johannsen. Adela was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Read More	Adela Charlotte Johannsen Jensen was born to Peter W. and Anna Stier Johannsen on the family farm in Soldier Township, Crawford County, Iowa on October 27. 1902. She was called to her heavenly home on September 9, 2002. Adela resided alone in her home for many years. Recently, cancer required her to be hospitalized briefly and Hospice care was provided. Her mother died on December 24, 1904 and she was raised by her father and step-mother, Mathilda Jochims Groth Johannsen. Adela was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She was a devoted lifetime member of the Frieden's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa. She attended a rural school and in 1919, moved into Schleswig with her parents. Adela graduated from the Schleswig High School in 1921 after which she attended State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught rural schools for three years. On September 23. 1924, Adela was united in marriage to Hugh Jacob Jensen at the Frieden's Evangelical Church in Schleswig. They moved to the family farm and were blessed with one daughter, Joyce Jean. Om 1949, Hugh and Adela retired and moved into their new home in Schlewig. They enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage, celebrating many special days and events with family and friends. Adela was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo in 1980, her parents, sister and brother-in-law, step-brother and sister in-law, Hugo's siblings: and their spouses. Those who remain to cherish her memory include her daughter, Joyce and her husband William J. Petersen, three grandchildren. Funeral services were held 3:30p.m. Sunday, September 15. 2002 at United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Chris Burtnett officiated the services and grave side rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig.
