The remains of Adelbert Dines, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Dines, arrived here Monday evening from Flagstaff, Arizona, and were interred beside his father and mother in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Dell had been making his home with his brother William at Dallas City, Ill., and about three weeks ago concluded he would visit his brother Lon who is managing a large sheep ranch in Arizona, the nearest railway point being Flagstaff. Dell arrived at Flagstaff on Christmas day, tired and worn out, and finding that his brother Lon lived a distance of a 100 miles or more from Flagstaff, and also hearing that heavy snows had fallen making it impossible for him to undertake the trip for some time, he concluded to remain in Flagstaff and rest. He had for several years been seriously afflicted with heart trouble and was really making the trip to Arizona for the double purpose of seeing his brother Lon and also in the hope that the change of climate might be of help to him. On the evening of Jan 2, 1892 he went to his hotel and laid down on the couch in the bar room and informed the landlord to wake him up at a certain time. When the time arrived the landlord went to Mr. Dines and attempted to arouse him and was stricken with horror to find him dead. He died of heart failure. A telegram was immediately sent to William Dines at Dallas City apprising him of the death of Dell. Will telegraphed back to his brother Lon to proceed with the remains to this city. The telegram could not be delivered however because of the deep snow above stated. Then Will telegraphed to have the remains shipped here in charge of some responsible person, which was done, Will meeting the remains at Lawrence, Kansas. The body arrived here Monday evening at 4:30 and accompanied by the two brothers, William of Dallas City, Ill. and Charles of Macomb, Ill. with several members of the Masonic Lodge and friends of the deceased, it was taken to the I.O.O.F. cemetery and buried beside his father and mother after appropriate exercises conducted by Rev. J.F. Shores. Dell Dines was born in Shelbyville, Mo., May 11, 1853 and lived an honorable, upright life, and in his sudden death among strangers all hearts are touched with sorrow. His brother Lon whom he started to visit does not yet know of Dell's death. The thanks of Will and Charley Dines are extended to those who ventured out in the cold Monday evening to witness the burial services at the cemetery.
