She was born Nov. 11, 1879 at Burlingame and lived in Topeka and Iola before she moved to Pittsburg. She moved to Ohio a few years ago. Mrs. Burnett received an AB degree from Washburn University in 1902 and an MA degree from the University of Chicago. She was born Nov. 11, 1879 at Burlingame and lived in Topeka and Iola before she moved to Pittsburg. She moved to Ohio a few years ago. Mrs. Burnett received an AB degree from Washburn University in 1902 and an MA degree from the University of Chicago. She organized the English Department at Iola Junior College where she taught three years. She joined the faculty at Kansas State Teachers College at Pittsburg in 1926. She was an instructor in the language and literature department and later was an associate professor from July 1, 1950 until she retired Feb. 1, 1958. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church at Pittsburg. She was a member of Tau Delta Pi honorary English fraternity at Washburn University and was a charter member of the Pittsburg Chapter of the American Assn. of University Women. Mrs. Burnett was a member of the Kansas City branch of the National League of Pen Women and had served two years as president of the Kansas Authors Club. Survivors include a son, Dr. Jack M.
