McMullen, aged 67, who came to Washington County with her brothers in 1869, died at the Nye Avenue Hospital in Fremont early Tuesday morning following an operation Monday afternoon. McMullen, aged 67, who came to Washington County with her brothers in 1869, died at the Nye Avenue Hospital in Fremont early Tuesday morning following an operation Monday afternoon. Mrs. McMullen had been ill for the past month and for the last ten days her condition had been critical. She was taken to the hospital Saturday and Monday the operation was preformed as a last resort. Mrs. McMullen never rallied. As Miss Addie E. Thorndyke, Mrs. McMullen was born at Searsport, Me., October 17, 1850. When she was 19 years of age she came to Nebraska with her brothers, making the trip from Omaha to Fontanelle by stage. Levi, another brother, had preceded the other members of the family and had located on a homestead north of Fontanelle. Mrs. McMullen made her home with the Rev. Mr. Bisbee and family for two years until her marriage to Walter McMullen, August 12, 1871. The Rev. J. J. Adriance of Fremont, pioneer Methodist minister, who covered his circuit on horseback, performed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. McMullen located to a homestead four miles north of Fontanelle where Mrs. McMullen has since resided. Mr. McMullen died on April 30, 1913 Surviving deceased are five daughters, Mrs. Eval Washburn, Fontanelle; Mrs. J. S. Jackman….the rest of the obituary is missing but her husbands obituary from1913 states the following survivors: He was married to Miss Addie Thorndyke of Fontanelle August 15, 1871. Of nine children born to them, six are living. They are Mrs. Eva Washburne, who made her home with parents; Mrs. J. S. Jackman of Fremont; Mrs. Garner James of Fontanelle, Mrs. J. A.
