Agnes graduated from Waco High School in 1929 and the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in York in 1932 when she began her nursing career at Lutheran Hospital in York. She was married to Herman F. Tietmeyer, 90, of York died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 at York. She was born on a farm near Waco on Sept. 28, 1911, to Fred and Wanda (Bulgrin) Schwarting. Agnes graduated from Waco High School in 1929 and the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in York in 1932 when she began her nursing career at Lutheran Hospital in York. She was married to Herman F. Tietmeyer Jr. at Waco on Oct. 7, 1934, and they lived and farmed near York until moving to York in 1967. Agnes worked as a nurse until she began her family and then returned to York General Hospital in 1961 and then York Medical Clinic where she worked until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of York where she was active in many church activities including LWML, Circles and Bible Study. Agnes enjoyed traveling, her many card clubs, and senior water exercises. She remained active in her nursing associations. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and husband Lee Alberts of Sutton; her son, Boyd and his wife Pamela Tietmeyer of York; five granddaughters and husbands, Stacey and Brad Fuehrer of McCool Junction, Shawnee and Ron Branek of Long Island, Kan., Kristie and Ron Sylvester of Omaha, Amy and Nate Holtz of Sherman, Texas, and Bobbie Richardson of York; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Branek and Troy Fuehrer. Also surviving are her brothers-in-law, Clarence and Jean Tietmeyer of Grover, Colo., and Harold Schlechte of York; sisters-in-law, Erna Tietmeyer and Mildred Tietmeyer, both of York; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Herman, brother Leslie, and sisters Alpha and Elda. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Art Brinkmeyer. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery of York. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will begin Sunday at 1 p.m. at Metz Mortuary. Metz Mortuary of York is in charge of arrangements. York News-Times (NE) - Monday, February 18, 2002
