Description	:	Rites for Mrs. Johannes DeGroot Are Held Tuesday Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for Mrs. Johannes De Groot, 66, long-time resident of this vicinity, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital Saturday evening following a hip operation. Services were conducted by the Rev. B. J. Haan and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Home. J., and moved to the Ireton vicinity at the age of 16. She married Johannes De Groot in 1913 and they farmed in this vicinity until the year 1949, when they moved to Sioux Center. Her husband preceded her in death in 1954. Survivors include five children, Peter of Maurice, Elsie (Mrs. Alfred Wissink) of Grand Rapids, Mich., Janet (Mrs. Gene Wagner) of Austin, Tex., Dorothy (Mrs. Cornie Van Der Stelt) of Sioux Center, Sadie (Mrs. Marion Van Peursem) of Maurice, 14 grandchildren, one great grandchild and two sisters, Mrs. Sip Eisma and Mrs. Charles Westra, of Ireton. -Obituary from The Sioux Center News (3/17/1960)
