Agnes, the daughter of Michael and Mary Ann Moore Kenny, was born April 10, 1857, on the family homestead in East Richland township, Jones county. She grew to womanhood on the farm, was educated in the rural schools and came to Cascade many years ago when her father retired from farming. She has made her home in Cascade since that time. Her parents came from Ireland in the ‘40’s to Salem, Mass., and thence to Iowa. She is survived by her niece, Miss Della Cox, of Cascade and a number of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: William, Patrick and George, and Mrs. Wm. Garrity, Mrs. Robt. McNally, Mrs. Christy Cox and Mrs. John Cunningham. Funeral services were held Monday morning at nine o’clock at St. Martin’s church, Rev. Thomas Rooney officiating. At the graveside Rev. Rooney was assisted by Rev. James Supple, a nephew of the deceased. Interment was made in the Cascade Catholic cemetery. The casket bearers were: P. M. Dahlem, Peter Mullady, Leo Skahill, Thos. McGovern, M. J. Kenneally and Henry Devlin. Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Sister Baptista and Sister Marie Charlotte, De Sales Heights, Dubuque; Mrs. and Mrs. N. B. Freitgen and Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hayes of Oelwein, Mrs. and Mrs. C. J. Murray of Hopkinton, Mrs. Anna Maire of Omaha, Miss Lettie McNally of Independence; Mrs. Albert Ament, Anamosa; Mr. and Mrs. James Cox of New Melleray; and Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Cox and family of Bernard.
