She passed away on August 22, 2007, at the Superior Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 27 days. Lucille grew up in the Hyannis and Alliance, Nebraska area later moving to Spearfish, South Dakota, where she graduated from high school in 1933. On March 5, 1935, she married Marcellus Joseph "Jack" Gilsdorf at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, south of Lawrence, Nebraska. They lived in Sandpoint, Idaho, where a daughter, Elizabeth Arlene "Betty" was born, Grand Island, Nebraska, where a son, Michael Eugene, was born, and Klamath Falls, Oregon, before settling in Lawrence in 1947. Jack died June 30, 1951, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska. Lucille then married Leonard Joseph Brockman, April 19, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence. To this union one son, Brian Joseph, was born. Later they adopted a second son, Marcellus Joseph "Marc." They continued to live in Lawrence where she was a café owner/manager and later a cook's assistant at Lawrence High School. Leonard died February 1, 1975, at the Veteran's Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska. Lucille moved to Superior, Nebraska in 1986 and then the Superior Good Samaritan Center in 2004. Lucille was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, going to ball games and dancing. She did fancywork which included crocheting afghans, doilies, table runners and made crafts with plastic canvas. She enjoyed playing cards, including solitaire where she was known to wear the plastic off the cards before she would get a new deck; and yahtzee. She always had a good sized garden, canning the fruits and vegetables and she liked to cook and bake. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the churches, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence and St. Joseph Catholic Church of Superior and their Altar Societies and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 45 Auxiliary of Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters, Wilma Lackmann and husband, Roland and Maxine Albo and husband Albert; and brothers, Richard and wife, Marie and Roy and wife Esther. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Schott and husband, Ron of Superior, Nebraska; three sons, Michael Gilsdorf of Patumph, Nevada, Brian Brockman and wife Lorri of Springfield, Nebraska, and Marc Brockman and wife, Patty of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Melany Whitlock and husband, John of Hastings, Nebraska, Kevin Schott and wife, Leatha, of Kearney, Nebraska, Annette Eiseman and husband, Randy, of Hardy, Nebraska, Tim Schott and wife Renea, of Savannah, Missouri, Julie Schiermeyer and husband, Brian of St. Joseph, Missouri, Peggy Green and husband, David of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brian Gilsdorf of Topeka, Kansas, Misty Munns and husband Sam of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Loreina "Nickie" Campbell, all of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jessica Johnson and husband John of McFarland, California, and Francisca Pleines of York, Nebraska, Evan Brockman and Abbey Brockman of Springfield, Nebraska; 5 step-grandchildren, Steve Addleman and wife, Shannon, Billi Jo Jacobsen and husband, James and Kathy Brewer all of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Tom Eloge and wife, Chris of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Josh Turner; 39 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 10:30 AM from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior, Nebraska with Father Philip Luther officiating. Lector was Jim Rempe, Acolyte was Ron Rempe, Altar Servers were Jacob Hawley and Colton May. Music was "The King Of Love My Shepherd Is," "Sing With All The Saints In Glory," "You Are Mine," solo by Arnold Miller and "How Great Thou Art," with Arnold Miller as song leader and Carlita Erickson as organist. Pallbearers were Kevin Schott, Tim Schott, Evan Brockman, Brian Gilsdorf, Randy Eiseman, and Sam Munns. Honorary Pallbearers were Jeff Munns, John Whitlock, Brian Schiermeyer, David Green and John Johnson. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Lawrence, Nebraska. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements. Superior Express August 30, 2007.
