Description	:	Agnes M. (Becker) Cudaback was the fourth of 14 children born to Henry J. Becker and Christine M. (Erdkamp) Becker in O'Neill, on October 10, 1915. She passed away August 19, 2005, at the Exeter Care Center at the age of 89 years, 10 months and nine days. (Becker) Cudaback was the fourth of 14 children born to Henry J. Becker and Christine M. (Erdkamp) Becker in O'Neill, on October 10, 1915. She passed away August 19, 2005, at the Exeter Care Center at the age of 89 years, 10 months and nine days. When Agnes was still a toddler, the family moved to Geneva, then Exeter, always looking for a house that would accommodate a growing family. Her early memories were of babies, laundry hung out on lines that crisscrossed the lawn, her mother baking bread daily and saving the flour sacks to use as diapers, sharing beds and bedrooms with numerous siblings, housework that seemed never-ending and a family life that, while simple and frugal, was full of love and patience. Family life for the Beckers was very simple. Agnes once said, "the evenings were spent reading, then we had to pray a little before kissing the folks goodnight and going to bed. there wasn't anything else to do. We didn't have a radio or lights, so we just went to bed early." Agnes was a life-long member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter. She attended Catholic schools in Geneva and Exeter, completing eight years of grade school, one year of high school in Exeter, and one year at Hastings Catholic Immaculate Conception before leaving school to help at home. She later worked as a waitress at Mack's Cafe in Exeter and also assisted area families with newborn babies. On September 2, 1937, she was married to Clarence A. Cudaback in Exeter and to them three sons were born. The couple moved into a house northwest of Exeter that Clarence had lived in since 1924--a house where they lived until 1998, when their health began to fail. They moved to the Exeter Care Center where Clarence passed away one week later. Agnes remained there until her death. When you visited Agnes at the country home, you always had to have a cup of coffee and some form of "sweets." She lived simply, always satisfied and never complained. She was happy to sit in the pickup on a summer afternoon and watch Clarence work in the field. In the evenings, she and Clarence sat in the backyard and enjoyed the serenity of the country. The grandchildren dearly loved their grandmother, and the feeling was mutual. They were always ready to go to Grandma's. they thought the hamburgers and pancakes she fixed for them were the best. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Anastasia, Mary, Rose and Dorothy; and five brothers, Earl, Dick, Bob, Linus and Francis "Pete." She is survived by her three sons, Larry, and wife Bonnie; Roger and wife Sharon; and Bill, and wife Judy; four sisters, Zita Rizer, Anabel Mencher, Bertille Swartz and husband Bill, Joan Pearson; one sister-in-law, Lorene Becker; eight grandchildren; Dawn Welch and husband Shane, Darcy White and husband Brad; Stacy Hall and husband Randy; Dee Smith and husband Larry, Jan Ekeler and husband Glen, Sheri Lubbers and husband John, Brandon Cudaback and Chad Cudaback; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, from the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter with Father Stephen Cooney officiating. Serving Acolyte was Mark Becker and Lector was John Becker. Agnes Anderson accompanied Amber Rassett, who snag "Be not Afraid" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were Brandon Cudaback, Glen Ekeler, John Lubbers, Shane Welch, Chad Cudaback, Randy Hall, Larry Smith and Brad White.
