Description	:	Norfolk - Agnes Meloni Forte, devoted wife, loving mother and loyal friend, passed away quietly with her family by her side at Sentara Leigh Hospital in the evening of Thursday July 19, 2012. Predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Agnes "Nacy" Meloni of Norfolk, VA; survived by her adoring husband, Dr. Theodore Forte, her loving daughter and son-in-law, Alexandria Forte-Nijssen and Leendert Nijssen, and her greatest joy, her granddaughter Alexandra Elizabeth Turner. Predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Agnes "Nacy" Meloni of Norfolk, VA; survived by her adoring husband, Dr. Theodore Forte, her loving daughter and son-in-law, Alexandria Forte-Nijssen and Leendert Nijssen, and her greatest joy, her granddaughter Alexandra Elizabeth Turner. She also leaves behind a multitude of Waters Edge neighbors, lifelong friends, and close family, to whom she was devoted. Mrs. Forte was a 1946 graduate of Maury High School, and the Secretary of her class as well as a cornerstone of her Reunion Committee. She attended the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary, and received her Bachelor's degree in Music with emphasis in performance and pedagogy from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She was an accomplished concert pianist, and a guest soloist twice with the Norfolk Symphony when they presented the Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals and the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto. She was a faculty member of the Bristow Hardin School of Music in Norfolk, and subsequently taught piano from home for 32 years, sending many budding musicians on to professional music careers with her tutelage. She was proud to be a sponsor of the Keynote Music Club which met at the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences. She was a member and an active volunteer at the Chrysler Museum, and a life member of both the Virginia Symphony and the Virginia Opera Guild. Agnes was exacting in her standards and lived life by the highest ethical construct, serving as a beacon of right and wrong to all who loved her. Special thanks must be given to the nurses at Sentara Leigh Hospital, and to her dedicated surgeon, Randy B. Gould. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, July 23, 2012, at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
