Description	:	Agnes Pearl Critzer Fox, 81, of 706 Pounding Branch Road, Afton, passed away Thursday February 15, 2007 at Shenandoah Nursing Home, Fishersville, due to complications from melanoma. Although cancer caused her death, she suffered from pain due to other health issues and has finally gotten relief from her pain. Although cancer caused her death, she suffered from pain due to other health issues and has finally gotten relief from her pain. Born September 2, 1925, in Nelson County, Agnes was the daughter of the late Charlie Boggs Critzer and Golden Pearl Scott Critzer. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Although Agnes was a homemaker and worked briefly as a Nurses Aide, she was most proud of the many years she spent babysitting children in her home. To those for whom she cared, she was known as "Nanny", and she considered them her honorary grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Rodes United Methodist Church, Afton, where she was involved in the Ladies Bible Class, participating in Bible Study, Friends Day and the canning committee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Fox Sr. on November 12, 1998; her brothers, Charles Wesley Critzer, Vinton "Jack" Critzer and David Norwood Critzer; and, a sister Ethel Elizabeth Critzer. Family members include her three daughters, Rita F. Kostoff and her husband Bruce of Afton, Patsy F. Martin and her husband Richard of Waynesboro, and Kathy F. Kurtz of Afton; one son, Robert C. Fox Jr. and his wife, Carol of Fishersville; four grandchildren, Kimberly D. Martin and her fiancé, Joe Leavell of Waynesboro, Nicholas S. Martin of Waynesboro, Sara Jane Fox and her fiancé, Travis Dean of Waynesboro, and Randall Lee Kurtz of Afton; and, a great grandson, Jacob Martin Leavell of Waynesboro. She is also survived by one brother, Billy L. Critzer and his wife Leona of Afton; sisters-in-law, Effie Critzer and Louise Hughes of Afton; brother-in-law, Ray A. Fox and his wife Thelma of Waynesboro, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind a special canine companion, Daisy, who will miss her bedmate. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Sunday February 18, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in Rodes United Methodist Church by Rev. Whitney Critzer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Martin, Randall Kurtz, Terry Kennedy, Scott Kennedy, Chris Stevens, Matthew Hoffman, Vance Swink and Scott Brownlee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kim Martin, Sara Fox, Carol Critzer, Nora Critzer, Alicia DeHart, Nicki Cobb, Becky Pannell, Lauren Pannell, Samantha Truslow, Caroline Shelnut, Amanda Sumter, Lindsey Sumter, Brandyn Powers, Mary Lenahan and other nieces and nephews attending the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday February 17, 2007 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Shenandoah Nursing Home for the exceptional care they provided to Agnes and the family during her final days. Also, to all her family, friends, and church for their support, concern and prayers during her illness, especially Carol Critzer, who provided needed support by taking her on outings and to some doctor appointments.
