Caroline Froholm was born September 9, 1924, the daughter of Peder and Anna (Neraal) Froholm, on the family homestead in McKenzie County, ND. Caroline Froholm was born September 9, 1924, the daughter of Peder and Anna (Neraal) Froholm, on the family homestead in McKenzie County, ND. She attended a one room school house for elementary school before graduating high school at the age of 16 in Sanish, ND. Following graduation, Caroline attended business classes at Minot State University. She worked locally in retail in downtown Minot, where she met her future husband of 50 years, Pat Cook. She then went to Seattle, WA for 2 years and worked as a buyer for Bon Marche (Bon Ton), until Pat convinced her to return to Minot and marry him. Caroline married Patrick James Cook on June 6, 1949 in Minot, ND. They made their home in Minot, where they raised 6 children. They also maintained a summer home on Lake Sakakawea. Together, Caroline and Pat enjoyed travelling. Some of the trips included Hawaii, the Caribbean, South America, the Philippines and Italy. Patrick passed away April 24, 1993. Caroline was a member of First Lutheran Church of Minot. She was also a member of the St. Leos Confraternity. She served several positions including president of the boards of the YWCA and La Sertoma. She was a member of the Womens Auxiliary for the North Dakota Association of Plumbing and Heating, as well as the National Association. She was also a 4-H Leader for the 4-H Club Sugar and Spice. Caroline enjoyed sewing for her family, crafts, reading (especially poetry) and horseback riding. She also enjoyed her time spent at the family lake cabin. She maintained lovely homes and was an accomplished hostess. Carolines children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been the joys of her life. She was a consummate lady of class and grace, who remains a true inspiration to those who knew and loved her. Surviving family includes: Sons, Col. (R) Terry (Chanel) Cook and Roderick "Rick" Cook; daughters, Patti (Al) Cook-Abejon, Carol Ann Cook and Susan Cook; grandchildren, Nicole Johnson, Theresa Cook, Danielle Rued, Alex Abejon, Danica Abejon, Brandon Abejon, Sierra Cook, Wyatt Cook, Sean Cook, Akber Khan and Abbas Khan; great-grandchildren, Paris, Angelina, Kaia, Olivia and Shaun; sister, Doris Bickel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; husband Patrick Cook; son, James Cook; brothers, Carl Froholm, Orvin Froholm and infant brother Ralph; and her sister, Gladys Driscoll.
