Description	:	Mrs. George Niehaus, for forty years a resident of this city, passed away about 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Hawarden Hospital where she submitted to an operation for gall stones Monday morning. She had. been subject to severe attacks for several months and an operation was finally determined upon. She seemed to rally at first from the operation but complications later developed although it was believed that she stood an excellent chance of recovery until just a few hours before her death when she began to fail rapidly. She seemed to rally at first from the operation but complications later developed although it was believed that she stood an excellent chance of recovery until just a few hours before her death when she began to fail rapidly. Agnes Rose was born in Chappietown, England, May 28, 1862, so was 61 years, 9 months and 7 days of age at the time of her death. She came with her parents to the United States when two years of age and they settled first at Cold Springs, N.Y., later moving to Cleveland, Ohio, where they resided for a number of years. Later they moved to Webster City, Iowa, and her parents came from there to Calliope and she joined them here in 1884. Her father, Robert Rose, conducted a foundry here for a number of years in the early days of the town. On May 10, 1892, she was united in marriage with George Niehaus and they have since continued to make their home here. No children were born to them. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son by a former marriage, Robert Craig, who lives at Vina, Calif., and one brother, Chas. B. Rose of Cleveland, Ohio. One daughter, Mrs. Gertie Craig Doctor, passed away eleven years ago. During her long years of residence here she acquired many warm friends who loved and esteemed her highly and there is genuine sorrow throughout the entire community at her sudden passing. The sympathy of all goes out to the-grief stricken husband in the great loss which he has sustained. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the Associated Church, in charge of Rev. Wm. F. Vance, the pastor. Interment will be made in Grace Hill cemetery.
