She was born on August 4, 1908 on a farm near Beaver Crossing to Daniel and Anna (Erb) Schweitzer, the 9th of 11 children. Read More	Agnes Steckly, of Milford, widow of Floyd, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at Crestview Care Center in Milford at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 15 days. She was born on August 4, 1908 on a farm near Beaver Crossing to Daniel and Anna (Erb) Schweitzer, the 9th of 11 children. As a young girl Agnes attended Walnut Creek Country School where she received a spelling certificate from the county superintendent for her excellence. In her youth she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized in the Mennonite faith and was a member of East Fairview Mennonite Church. She was later united in marriage to Floyd Steckly on October 2, 1930 at her parents home and to this union three sons, Vilas, Maynard and Kenneth were born. Together they lived and farmed near Beaver Crossing where she was a busy homemaker, farm wife and mother. Agnes also enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. She was an active member of the church sewing group and was an excellent cook. Her homemade pies were her specialty, especially her three-layer black walnut cake. Agnes was a very giving person, and would often share her bounty of food and flowers from her garden with relatives and other members of the community. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Vilas and Zona Steckly, Milford, Maynard and Wilma Steckly, Seward, Kenneth and Darlene Steckly, Garden City, MO, ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Orval Schweitzer, of Cory, PA, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd in 1993, sisters, Cora Martin, Elizabeth Miller, Lydia Stutzman, Mary Beckler, Martha Roth and Estella Schweitzer, brothers, Elmer, Raymond, and Daniel Schweitzer. Funeral Service was on Friday, January 23, 2004, at East Fairview Mennonite Church, Rural Milford, with Pastors Bill Saltzman and Anthony Troyer officiating. Interment at East Fairview Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the East Fairview Mennonite Church. Pallbearers were sons and grandsons, Vilas, Maynard, Kenneth, Frank, Randy, and Blane Steckly. A solo, "Serenaded by Angels" sang by Joy Steckly and congregational hymns selected were "Victory in Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art."
