She died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1996 at the home of her son, Phil Hardee, rural Page County, at the age of 87. [ernice] Hardee, daughter of Peter Ad [d] ison and Josie [Josephine Mary] McCord Strait, was born Feb. 16, 1908 in rural Adams County near Corning. She died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1996 at the home of her son, Phil Hardee, rural Page County, at the age of 87. Hardee lived in Adams County while growing up, attending rural schools then Corning High School through the 10th grade. She attended Corning Methodist Church in her youth. On Sept. 8, 1927, she married Estes J. [ames] Hardee in Corning. They had two children. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Taylor and Page counties. She worked for 15 years at the Clarinda Mental Health Institute until she retired. Hardee was a member of the Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Highland Chapter, Siam. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Estes; 14 brothers and sisters; and her daughter, Beryl Ann Karg. Survivors include her son, Phil and Janice Hardee, Siam; son-in-law, Homer Karg, Clarinda; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were Dec. 20 at Novinger-Taylor Funeral Home, Bedford. Burial was in Shearer Cemetery, rural Page County.
