Han kom med sine Forældre og Søskende ti l Amerika om Sommeren i Aaret 1853. De bosatte sig i Glenwood Townwsship paa den Farm, som først tilhørte hans Far, og som han senere solgte til sin Søn, I 1895, efter hans ældste Søns Død, flyttede han til Allamakee County, hvor han boede til sin Død. 1853 blev han gift med Martha Neseth. De havde sex Børn, to Sønner, som døde medens de var smaa, Baard som døde i 1895, Andrew Halvorson, som bor paa det gamle Hjemsted, Syneva og Marie Halvorson, som var hos ham og pleiet ham til det sidste. Der var ogsaa to Børnebørn, hvis Formynder han var efter deres Forældres Død. Afdøde efterlader sif kun en Broder, P. B. Halvorson af Decorah. Agrim Halvorson reiste i flere Aar omkring og solgte Bøger for Lutheran Publishing House. Han var bestandig interesseret i det kirkelige Arbeide og var et virksomt Medlem af Synoden, lige fra dens Stiftelse indtil den blev forenet med de to andre lutherske Samfund. Begravelsen foregikk Mandag den 3die Marts. Pastor M. Borge forrettede ved Sørgegudstjenesten, og afdøde blev begravet paa Glenwood Kirkegaard. Publication: Decorah Posten, Marts 10, 1919 About Agrim Halvorson's death we have received the following: On Wednesday night the 26th of February died one of the oldest members of Glenwood parish, Agrim Halvorson. The deceased was in poor health for the last two or three years and did not get around much. Lately he was only able to stay out of bed for parts of the time, but he was not seriously ill until the four last days of his life. Agrim Halvorson was born at Borgund in Sogn, Norway, the 7th of July 1836. He came with his parents and siblings to America in the summer of the year 1853. They settled in Glenwood Township on the farm that first belonged to his father and that he later sold to his son. In 1895, after his eldest son died, he moved to Allamakee County, where he lived until his death. In 1853 he married Martha Neseth. They had six children; two sons who died as small children, Baard who died in 1895, Andrew Halvorson who lives at the old homestead, Syneva and Marie Halvorson who stayed with him and looked after him until his last day. There were also two grandchildren whose guardian he was after their parents died. The deceased leaves only one brother, P. B. Halvorson of Decorah. For many years Agrim worked as a travelling salesman, selling books for Lutheran Publishing House. He was always interested in Christian work and was an active member of the synod from the time it was established until it was merged with the two other Lutheran societies. The funeral took place on Monday the 3rd og March. Pastor M. Borge performed the mourning service, and the deceased was interred at Glenwood Churchyard.
