Description	:	In Memory of Ahlert G. "Red" Larson Ahlert Larson, 83, of Granger died Thursday, March 5, 1992 at his home after a bout with cancer. He was born July 25, 1908 near Summit, SD to Nels and Selma (Jacobson) Larson. At the age of 13 he began shearing sheep on his father's farm. He operated a successful potato harvesting... Read More	In Memory of Ahlert G. "Red" Larson Ahlert Larson, 83, of Granger died Thursday, March 5, 1992 at his home after a bout with cancer. He was born July 25, 1908 near Summit, SD to Nels and Selma (Jacobson) Larson. At the age of 13 he began shearing sheep on his father's farm. This was the beginning of a career that was to last 62 years. Red left South Dakota in 1935. On May 16, 1938 he married Mavis Krause at Missoula, MT, and they moved to Granger, WA. He operated a successful potato harvesting business during the shearing off season for 23 years. Red's interests included boxing in his earlier years, hunting, fishing, dancing, and watching his grandchilddren play sports. He was an active member of the Granger Lions Club. Red Larson is survived by his wife, Mavis Larson of Granger, his daughter, Shirley Pearce of Portland, OR, his son, Darold Larson of Yakima, 5 brothers, Richard Larson of Granger, Lester Larson of Mabton, Olvin Larson of Wilmot, SD, Palmer Larson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Alfred Larson of Summit, SD, 7 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Delbert Larson, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 1992 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Burial will be in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Yakima, The American Cancer Society, or Grace Lutheran Church of Zillah.
