Moved to Leonard with his wife Georgia (Hopper) and son Bill in January 1941, opened his office in their home and began a care for the sick, that lasted for almost 48 years. In the beginning many of the ill were unable to come to the office, a "house call" in a durable Model A Ford, often ending with a long walk up a muddy road, was his solution. His home was his office and for years the local maternity hospital with more than fifty future Leonard area citizens being born and cared for by Doc and Georgia in their home. Many others were delivered in homes in the community. His office hours were easy to remember, if you were sick or hurt, they were 24 hours a day; if you stopped by unexpectedly, you might have to wait until he returned from the woods or fields. More than just "the doctor", he was a concerned citizen of a small town, strongly supporting the Leonard schools and later North Shelby, a member of many local organizations and a willing volunteer to assist in many areas. A man who never turned away a person who was sick or really had much sympathy for one who wasn't. of Leonard. They moved to Lebanon, Mo. where he practiced with his uncle, Dr. Henry Rennick. In the fall of 1935, they moved to Novelty. A son, William Alan, was born June 4, 1936. In Jan. 1941, they moved to Leonard. The family took an active part in community affairs. Dr. Wright died June 2, 1989.
