Read More	A Few of the Facts Concerning the Late Albert C. House, An Early Pioneer of This Locality. Albert C. House was born at Stanstead, Quebec, August 22, 1846, in a family of eleven children. He was married July 2, 1872, to Josephine Verbeck. Two children were born to them, one dying in infancy, the other Dr. Frank V. House, now residing in Chicago. He came west with the first great rush of homesteaders in 1882 and filed on a piece of land north of this point. After making final proof he came to town and engaged in the livery business, serving the town and community in that capacity for nearly a quarter of a century when failing health compelled him to give up the work. He was one of the old school veterinarians, or horse doctors as they were more commonly called, and in connection with the livery business he practiced that profession, taking great pride in his skill in combating disease and saving the lives of animals. Mr. House was not without his faults, but he had a good heart and his hand was ever open to assist the needy or those in distress. He was an active factor in the upbuilding of the town in the earlier years. Few, if any, are the residents of this locality who did not become acquainted with Mr. House. He was familiarly hailed as "Albert" by everyone, young and old. The deceased was a member of the Masonic Fraternity and the Order had charge of the funeral services which were conducted at the Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon. Rev. The remains were laid in their last resting place at the cemetery west of town, the casket slowly descending while those impressive and inspiring rites, peculiar to the A.F. & A.M. were read. Thus another pioneer has passed from our midst.
