Description	:	Albert E. "Curly" Goebel, 84 years of Fremont died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at his home. He was born Nov. 11, 1927 on the family farm in St. Charles, NE near West Point, to Albert and Anna (Havel) Goebel. He attended country school until moving to Fremont at the age of 16. He married Charlotte "Tudi" Selders on Sept. 8, 1945 in Marysville, KS. Together they raised their family in Fremont. "Curly" Goebel, 84 years of Fremont died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at his home. He was born Nov. 11, 1927 on the family farm in St. Charles, NE near West Point, to Albert and Anna (Havel) Goebel. He attended country school until moving to Fremont at the age of 16. He married Charlotte "Tudi" Selders on Sept. 8, 1945 in Marysville, KS. Together they raised their family in Fremont. He went to work for Capitol Bridge in 1954 operating their crane, building the Platte River Bridge near Fremont. In 1959 he started his life long career with Peter Kiewit and Sons Company in Omaha, NE also as a crane operator and heavy equipment mechanic. In 1979 he was appointed Area Equipment Superintendant over the Heavy Highway Division. He retired in 1990. He and his wife spent winters in Yuma, AZ and summers in Fremont.He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont and a member of the Mens Senior League at Valley View Golf Course in Fremont. Survivors include his children; son, Larry and wife Marie Goebel of Palm Springs, CA; daughter, Vicki and husband Michael G. Shanahan of Fremont; son, Lane Goebel of Lenexa, KS and daughter, Diane and husband Ron Cole of Lincoln, NE; special devoted friend Marcie Pettit of Fremont; sister-in-law Betty Goebel of Fremont; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Charlotte "Tudi" Goebel after 57 years of marriage on March 2, 2003; five brothers, Leo, Richard, Gene, Marvin and Don Goebel; 2 sisters, Deloris McGranahan and Evelyn Hansen. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Fr. Jim Keiter will officiate. Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, NE.
