Description	:	Thanks to contributor #48796369 Albert F. Thurber, 96, of Grand Island died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center. Mr. Thurber was cremated. Burial will be at a later date in the Phillips Cemetery. Mr. Thurber was born on Oct. 8, 1903, at Deweese to Walter A. and Mary Marie (Stichka) Thurber. He was educated in the Nelson schools. He married Neva Hepler in July 1925. He worked as a carpenter. Mr. Thurber was born on Oct. 8, 1903, at Deweese to Walter A. and Mary Marie (Stichka) Thurber. He was educated in the Nelson schools. He married Neva Hepler in July 1925. He worked as a carpenter. He served 40 years in law enforcement as a deputy sheriff in Nuckolls County, village marshal in Phillips, deputy marshal at ordnance plant and at the Pinkerton Detective Agency in Hamilton County. He married Rose Eihusen in 1943 in Bellville, Kan. After leaving law enforcement, he returned to construction work and retired in 1966. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 378 of Grand Island. He had been a member of the Stichka Rodeo Stock Contractors Rodeo from 1948 to 1953. Survivors include two sons, Stanley of Aurora, Colo., and Scott of Clovis, N.M.; one daughter, Alberta Alberts of Doniphan; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Viola Molley of Fairbury. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Tom and James; and two sisters. The Grand Island Independent, Feb. 4, 2000
