Description	:	Death Sunday forenoon at 11:45 at Albion claimed Albert Filer, aged 88, and a resident of the county since 1866. Mr Filer died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Lewis Lacey, from infirmities due to age. Mr Filer was born near Montreal, Quebec May 5, 1826. At the age of 15 he went to Buffalo, New York, and a few years later moved to Lewistown, Illinois. There he grew to manhood and in 1853 took as his bride Miss Barbara Stevenson. Eleven children were born to Mr and Mrs Filer, and six of them are living.... Eleven children were born to Mr and Mrs Filer, and six of them are living. Mr and Mrs Filer came to this county in 1866 and settled near Bangor. Later they lived at Melbourne where Mrs Filer died September 30, 1876. Mr Filer's children are John S Filer of Pipestone, Minnesota, Mrs Katherine Lacey of Albion, C H Filer of Garwin, Mrs Anna Higgins of Los Angeles, George V Filer of Morristown, South Dakota and James A Filer of Melbourne. Four of Mr Filer's children died in infancy and a son, Frank, died at the age of 19 at Rhodes in 1880. Short funeral services were held at the Lacey home this afternoon at 2:30. The funeral proper will be held from the Methodist church at Albion at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, interment following in Dunker cemetery near Albion. Monday, March 8, 1915 Evening Times Republican
