The remains arrived here for burial yesterday afternoon. Deceased was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hislop of West Decorah, and was born in Glenwood, Mills Co., this state, Nov. 30th, 1864. In 1865 he came with the family to this city, and until some eight years ago Decorah was his home. In his seventeenth year he came to the REPUBLICAN office to learn the printer's trade, and retained a situation therein until early in 1894, filling most capably for many years the difficult task of an expert job printer. During the later years of this employment his attention was attracted to the question of a personal religion. This led to a public profession, and he soon.after became convinced of a duty to enter the ministry, To this conviction he yielded implicitly, and after a course of study covering two years he was accepted in, and ordained a minister in the Baptist church. Pastorates in northwestern Iowa and South Dakota were filled acceptably, but his health failed and a {illegible} him to retire from that labor. He turned back to his trade and found a place that suited him at Parker, So. Dak. In this employment his health failed—a complication of difficulties set in, and at the last acute gastric catarrh developed. He was taken to Sioux City, as a last hope, but medical aid availed nothing. Thus lived and died one who grew into a splendid Christian manhood. Though short his career was a beautiful example of faith and love. Deceased married Miss Jerusha Mackenstadt daughter of H. Mackenstadt, in August, 1888, who survives. There are no children. To the grief stricken parents in their old age, who are now called to lay away a second son, and the eldest of the flock, sincere sympathy will be felt. A sister, Mrs. E. R. Blount, and a brother, Harry, also survive him. The funeral will be held at the Baptist church to-morrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Source: Decorah Republican Apr. 9, 1903 Page 2 Col 1 —The funeral of Rev. Albert C. Hislop last Friday afternoon was very largely attended. The Baptist church was filled and many remained outside. The sermon by pastor Allen, who came hither to officiate, was very appropriate and comforting to those who are heart-stricken by the event.
