Obituary - Topeka Capital-Journal, December 2, 2002 Marysville - Albert G. Kistner, 81, Marysville, died Saturday, November 30, 2002, at Summerfield Nursing home. He was born August 7, 1921, in Topeka, to George C. and Mary Farhar Kistner. He spent his early life in Topeka, where he graduated from Hayden High School. He attended Kansas State University in Manhattan and earned a degree in industrial engineering at The University of Kansas in Lawrence. He lived in Kansas City, Kansas, where he worked for the Darby Corporation and then was chief industrial engineer for Gustin Bacon Manufacturing. He moved to Marysville in 1964 and was chief operating officer for Hall Brothers Construction Ins. He established the Marysville Ready Mix concrete plant in 1978 and owned and operated the plant until he retired in 1996. He was an engineer in the Army and served in Europe and the Pacific during World War II. He later served in the Kansas Army Reserves and held the rank of Lieutenant colonel before he retired. He was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, S.M.N. & R. Post No. 163 of the American Legion and Moose Lodge, all in Marysville. He was a past president of the Kansas Asphalt Pavement Association and member of the Kansas Ready Mix and Aggregate Association, Kansas Contractor Association and Associated General Contractors of America. He married Wanda Hall on May 5, 1940. She died September 10, 2002. Survivors include a son, Richard Kistner, Marysville; a daughter, Allana Novotny, Arcadia, Nebraska; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Burial will be in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery in Marysville. Mr. Kistiner will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville and after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Albert G. Kistner Scholarship Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.
