Mr. Soyer, 77, of Carroll, died of a heart condition Friday, Feb. 6, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Father James McCormick, Father Merlin Schrad and Father Peter Due Nguyen presided at the services. Lectors were Jacqui Lawrence, Angie Pytleski and Jennifer Pytleski. Mass servers were Nathan Soyer, Jay Schiltz and Maggie Stults; Gift bearers were Tim Pytleski, Molly Pytleski, Kyle Soyer, Hannah Soyer, Derek Thielges, Mikayla Thielges, Ian Stillmunks, Nicholas Soyer, Nicholas Langel and Joseph Langel. Music was by Sarah Miller, Chris Miller, Kathy Schiltz and Marlou Pytleski. Casket bearers were Adam Soyer, Travis Soyer, Erin Pytleski, Jessica Stults, Chris Slater and Bob Vogl. Twit Funeral Home in Carroll handled arrangements. Born May 6, 1920, in Carroll, Mr. Soyer was a son of Peter Sr. and Mary (Brandl) Soyer. He attended Carroll County rural school. On Jan. 10, 1970, he married Theresa Langel at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Mr. Soyer was a farmer and hog buyer, for Farmland Foods for many years. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Mr. Soyer is survived by his wife, Theresa, of Carroll; his children: Glenn Soyer and his wife, Jane, of Norwalk; Kathy Schiltz and her, husband, Earl, of Carroll; Sherry Slater of Omaha, Neb., Dave Soyer and his wife, Robin, of Havre, Mont.; Marlou Pytleski and her husband, Chuck, of Norwalk; Clara Jean Stults and her husband, Al, of Norwalk; Richard Soyer and his wife, Michelle, of Johnston; Mary Thielges and her husband, Tony, of Las Vegas, Nev.; Madonna Stillmunks and her husband, John, of Des Moines; Patrick Soyer and his wife, Michelle, of Marion; and Paul Soyer of Carroll; 27 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two stepsons, David Langel and his wife, Laurie, and Keith Langel and his wife, Lynell, all of Milford; four sisters, Josephine Roles of Morris, Minn., Rose Soyer of Carroll, Emily Schenkelberg of Carroll, and Bertha Broich of Willey, and a brother, John Soyer, of Sioux Falls, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Maizie Oswald Soyer, in 1968; three brothers, Joe, Peter Jr. and Tony Soyer; and four sisters, Marie Irlbeck, Ann Gute, Marge Brincks and Clara Soyer.
