Description	:	Albert Hurd is my 2x great grandfather. Albert Hurd was born in England 1865 died 1904 at the age of 39 years old . There first 2 children died as babies there first son lived for a month there 2 child a daughter lived half a month . They had 7 children in all . All of there children were born in the United States but there youngest son . They sold there farm & some possessions they set for the promised land in Canada in June 1898 . There first 2 children died as babies there first son lived for a month there 2 child a daughter lived half a month . They had 7 children in all . All of there children were born in the United States but there youngest son . They sold there farm & some possessions they set for the promised land in Canada in June 1898 . Albert drove a team hitched to a wagon as did his wife drive a team as well . They moved up with Martha & Wiggo Olsen in laws to the Hurds . Albert younger brother Fred agreed to herd a dozen horses up and he returned to the states . They arrived in July 1898 . As they crossed the border thay had to kiss the bible & swear that they would be good citizen of Canada . Albert other brother John came to Canada the following year to live with his family . While living in there 2 wagons they built there first house in Cardston Alberta . Albert took out a homestead on land 15 miles southwest of town He set up a beef cattle operation as he was a butcher & had his own shop in Cardston . Albert Hurd had great bit of humor he would come home with candy and hide it in his pockets & let the children find it . One day while Albert was helping a friend with some hay he noticed a boy struggling in the water . Only through quick action was he able to jump from the load of hay & save the boy from drowning . Life in Canada was so perfect as where they had come from . They owned a house , a farm , a business in town all there kids were happy & healthy them it all came to and end . After living in Canada for 6 years tragedy struck while Albert was out on the ranch he suffered an attack of appendicis . When he realized he was seriously sick he saddled his horse and rode 15 torturous miles to Cardston but by the time he had been sent to Lethbridge by train it was to late & died on the operating table . He was buried in Cardston Alberta .
