Kayser died at his home in this city at 8:30 O'clock Monday Evening, shortly after being brought from Little Rock, where for the past year and a half he had been a patient in the State Hospital for Nervous Diseases. Mr. Kayser was for a number of years engaged in the mercantile business in Dardanelle, and during his residence here was a prominent factor in the commercial and social circles of the city. Kayser died at his home in this city at 8:30 O'clock Monday Evening, shortly after being brought from Little Rock, where for the past year and a half he had been a patient in the State Hospital for Nervous Diseases. Mr. Kayser was for a number of years engaged in the mercantile business in Dardanelle, and during his residence here was a prominent factor in the commercial and social circles of the city. In 1900 he removed to Joplin, Mo., where he established a large department store, which he conducted with splendid success until several years ago, when his health began to fail. With his family he returned to Dardanelle some two years ago, and by withdrawing from the active management of business affairs hoped to regain his health. However, the change failed to benefit him and it was deemed advisable to place him in the State Hospital for Nervous diseases, which was done. For a time his mental condition improved, and his ultimate recovery was hoped for, but the improvement was not permanent, and for the past several months no hope of his recovery had been entertained. The funeral service was conducted at the family residence on North Second Street, Wednesday afternoon, after which the remains were interred in Brearley Cemetery in the presence of large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friend who had assembled to pay their last sad tribute of respect to an honored citizen. Mr. Kayser is survived by a wife, two sons, a daughter and a mother, to whom in this dark hour of bereavement the Post-Dispatch in common with all our people joins in extending deepest sympathy.
