Lary was born in Fremont, Ohio, July 27th, 1870, and died in Marion, Iowa, September 28th, 1903, aged 33 years, and one day lacking two months. He came with his parents to Marion, Iowa, in the spring of '74. He was a graduated of the Marion High School, class of '89. He spent one years in Cornell College, and then attended until his graduation, the Law School at Iowa City, from which school he received his diploma, in 1890. Lary was born in Fremont, Ohio, July 27th, 1870, and died in Marion, Iowa, September 28th, 1903, aged 33 years, and one day lacking two months. He came with his parents to Marion, Iowa, in the spring of '74. He was a graduated of the Marion High School, class of '89. He spent one years in Cornell College, and then attended until his graduation, the Law School at Iowa City, from which school he received his diploma, in 1890. He then began the practice of his chosen profession in Belmond, Iowa. August 18th, 1897, he was united in marriage to Minnie B. Weber, of Iowa City, who survives him. To them were born two children, William and Jennie, who also live to comfort the mother in her great affliction. After three years in the law at Belmond his health began to fall from the constant in-door work; feeling the need of a radical change of occupation, he moved on to a farm near Creston, Iowa, where he lived for three years. In the fall of 1901 he went to Arkansas, where he expected to make a permanent home, but last November he took a severe cold from the effects of which he never recovered. When a boy he was converted and joined the M.E. church, during the pastorate of Rev. W.F. Barclay. In the path thus marked out in his boyhood he ever lived. He was a modest, faithful, useful Christian. He was enthusiastic in Sunday school work, and was superintendent in different places where his residence was cast. Failing health alone took him from this work. At Creston he was one of the leading spirits in the erection of a new church, a beautiful church, to which he gave largely of his time and means. He never expected to have a thing said of the many good things he died, but desired that his might be a simple, christian burial, meaning that he trusted alone in the mercy and merits of the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, for his home in heaven, and not on any good works he might have done, however zealously. His salvation was not of works, but for works. Besides his wife and little ones, he leaves a father and mother, two brothers and a sister to deeply mourn his early departure.
