Thomas former Hawarden resident, passed away in LeMars last Wednesday evening, Feb. 1st,from heart trouble Mr. Thomas had been in poor health for some time and grew steadily worse during the last two weeks and died of a coronary embolism. He died at the home of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mr. D MacKinnon, where he was cared for during his last illness. Funeral services were held at the Thomas home near LeMars at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon and at the Plymouth church at 1:30. Rev. W. E Smith, assisted by Rev. F. White and Rev. E. P. Pfalzgraff, officiating. The church was filled to capacity by sorrowing relatives and friends. Burial was in the cemetery at Ireton. Albert Thomas was born near Ireton July 16, 1888, so was past 60 years of age at the time of his death. His father died when he was three years old and the family moved to Ireton where he received his grade school education. Later they moved to Hawarden and he was graduated from the Hawarden high school in 1909. During his high School years and the following five years he was employed in the J.0. Lind general store in Hawarden with the exception of one year spent in a store in Butte, Neb. He was united in marriage with Jessie MacKinnon in Hawarden Jan. 1, 1914, and for the past 25 years he farmed in Plymouth county. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and one son, James, 17, his mother, Mrs. J. W. Nelson, Missouri Valley, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Bruce Houlton, Ireton, and one brother, Dr. Will J. Thomas, Lorimor, Iowa. His father and three sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Thomas was of a quiet disposition and was a kind and loving husband and father. He took an active part in the affairs of his community and was behind every forward movement. He served as a trustee in the Plymouth church until he was ordained as an elder ten years ago. He was a member of the Sunday school, church and brotherhood, an organization started two years ago. His many friends of Hawarden were grieved to learn of his untimely death.
