Read More	ALBERT JOHNSON This Good Man and Early Pioneer Passed Away at 12:25 Monday Afternoon After an illness lasting many months Albert Johnson, one of the early pioneers of Benton county passed away at his residence in Vinton Monday afternoon at 12:25. The deceased was born in Lawrence county, Indiana, April 24, 1820. He resided there till he reached manhood. He married to Miss Mary A. Schooley in Boone county, Indiana, October 1, 1840. This union was blessed with eight children, six of whom are now living, three girls and three boys. Those living are: James, S. L., and H. A. Johnson, Mrs. Carrie Blakely, Mrs. Della Bunten and Mrs. A. E. Simmons, who with the wife and mother mourn the death of so good a husband and father. The funeral services will be held at the Prairie Creek Christian church, Wednesday morning at 11 'clock, conducted by Revs. Nichols and Mutchler. Mr. Johnson came to Bento county May 1st, 1848 and was one of its early pioneers. He opened a fine farm in Polk township and on it he prospered and raised his family. For the past 19 years he has resided in Vinton and the home farm has been conducted by one of his sons. He always took and active interest in social, church and public affairs and did much towards the up building of his township. He was loved by his family and respected by the large concourse of friends he had gathered around him, who in his later years loved to call him Uncle Albert. His family will be present at the funeral services except his son, H. A. of Henry county, Nevada and also his daughter, Mrs. Blakely, of Iowa Falls, who was called home yesterday by the illness of her husband. The neighbors generally of the old home will attend the funeral services to pay the last tribute of love and respect to one whom they loved so well. (Vinton Eagle June 3, 1902)
