Meyers The death of Albert Joseph Meyers occurred early Saturday morning, Jan. 8, at his home in town, following a three-year illness. He was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Meyers and was born Feb. 9, 1883 in Cox Creek township, Clayton County, Iowa. He attended St. Joseph's school in Elkader. On Nov. 25, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Maud Little at Sacred Heart Church in Volga. They lived in Volga several years where he was in business. Three sons Virgil, Kenneth and Howard were born to them. Later, the family moved to a farm on the Volga-Elkader road, which was their home until 1925, when he retired from farming and purchased a home in town. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Virgil of Volga; Kenneth of Cedar Rapids and Howard, Rural Route 2, Elkader; eleven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. J. P. Hurley, Farley and one brother, Ben Meyers of Tama and other relatives. Two brothers, Henry Meyers, Nassau, Minn., and Chris Meyers, preceded him in death. He was a member of Sacred Heart parish and the Holy Name society. Funeral services were held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Francis Bradshaw, pastor, celebrated the Requiem High Mass and officiated at the graveside in the church cemetery, where interment was made. Casket bearers were: Joe Cunningham, William Orr, P.W. Minihan, William Wenger, William Christeleit and Roy Bennington. A large number of relatives and friends filled the church to pay their last respects to the deceased.
