Description	:	Albert Kirk Veirs, 96, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Sunday morning, October 22, 2017 at his assisted living residence at the Meadows of Leipsic, Ohio. He was born June 16, 1921 in Benton County, Illinois to the late Ralph and Ethel (Thomas) Veirs. On August 12, 1955 he married Joyce (Bell) Veirs and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2015 after 60 years of marriage. Read More	Albert Kirk Veirs, 96, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Sunday morning, October 22, 2017 at his assisted living residence at the Meadows of Leipsic, Ohio. He was born June 16, 1921 in Benton County, Illinois to the late Ralph and Ethel (Thomas) Veirs. On August 12, 1955 he married Joyce (Bell) Veirs and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2015 after 60 years of marriage. Albert honorably served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was responsible for drafting flight plans for bombing missions and his commanding officer was the famous actor, Jimmy Stewart. He returned home and worked as a Mail Car Clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. He would ride trains from Chicago to Pittsburgh. During his breaks, he would work part-time for the Village of Deshler and then fully retired in 1986 while at the Bowling Green, Ohio Post Office. Albert was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church of Deshler. He participated in many bowling leagues, enjoyed spending his free time gardening and quilting, and making sure he had time for his "Farmer's Breakfast". A devoted family man, who spent his lifetime caring for his wife, daughters and adoring his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by four daughters, Donna (Bill) Zeisloft, Leipsic; Judy (Jim) Tarbuck, St. Petersburg, Florida; Susan (Bruce) Bibler, Findlay, Ohio; Shelly (Rob) Rohrs, Malinta, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Harold and Frank Veirs. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Rev. Keith Hunsinger officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in McComb Union Cemetery, McComb, Ohio. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
