Thomas, 91, of Scribner died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Fremont Area Medical Center. Albert was born Sept. 6, 1922 in Milburn to Wilson E. and Clara Edna (Hogaboom) Thomas. He was raised in Milburn and graduated from Dunning High School in 1939. He married Zita Mae Foote on Aug. 16, 1947, and they moved to Scribner in 1957. Thomas, 91, of Scribner died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Fremont Area Medical Center. Albert was born Sept. 6, 1922 in Milburn to Wilson E. and Clara Edna (Hogaboom) Thomas. He was raised in Milburn and graduated from Dunning High School in 1939. He married Zita Mae Foote on Aug. 16, 1947, and they moved to Scribner in 1957. Albert worked for Great Plains Communication until he retired in 1987. Albert was a founding member of the Scribner Improvement and Industrial Corporation, and involved with the Scribner Chamber of Commerce. He was on the Scribner School Board, serving at one time as the board president. He served on the Scribner Housing Board. He was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Scribner Masonic Lodge No. 132. Survivors include: His wife; daughters, Shirley Holbach of Elkhart, Iowa, and Cindy (and husband, Scott) Green of Minneapolis; sons, Leland (and wife, Mary) Thomas of Dunning, Eric (and wife, Donna) Thomas of Whiting, Iowa, and Kenny (and wife, Sally) Thomas of Scribner; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Albert was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Scott; one brother and two sisters. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the United Church of Christ UCC in Scribner. The Rev. Larry Jirsak will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel with family receiving freidnds 2-4 p.m. A Masonic Service open to the public will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation will continue for 1 hour before the service at the church on Monday. Memorials are suggested to the Scribner Area Foundation.
