He was born on January 31, 1927 in Uniontown, Kansas the son of Albert Peter and Bonnie Dale Willis Wilson. He married Loris Arlene Hamm on May 1, 1948 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. ..He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and served in the American Area and the Asiatic Pacific. He was a lifetime member of the Olson-Fray-Burkhart Pot 1165 V.F.W. He served as a board member of the Poplar Grove rural school, north of Uniontown, was on the advisory board of the Uniontown F.F.A., and the board of directors of the Farmers Cooperatives in Fort Scott. He loved to hunt and fish in his earlier years, but his passion was his family. ..He is survived by his wife, Loris Wilson of the home, a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Judy Wilson of Uniontown, Kansas, three sisters, Bonita Holeman of Bronson, Yvette Nelson and her husband, Gene of Uniontown, and Anita Davis of Independence, Missouri, 4 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dale, and 3 very dear friends, Don Mix, Ellis Burt, and Merrill Abbott. ..Funeral services for Albert L. "Sonny" Wilson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, with Rick Hite Officiating. ..Burial will be in the Uniontown Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Olson-Fray-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to either the Shriner's Crippled Childrens Hospital Transportation Fund or the First Missionary Baptist Church of Uniontown, donations may be left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
