Perras- I am the son-in-law of Albert and Geneva Jones. Today I have been given the honor of paying tribute to Albert Lloyd Jones; husband of Geneva, Father of Darlene and Marilyn, Grandfather of ffive, a friend to and loved by all. Albert started early in life, with what most people mistakenly called an affliction, Albert was blind Restricted? Perhaps, but handicapped, never! Albert saw in a way that neither you nor I will ever be capable of. He saw beyond the superficiality that restricts us. Material things in life were unimportant to him. Each day of his life held new challenges and goles to achieve. His pride of achievement far surpassed any monetaary wards. "Two chickens and a can of peaches." Not exactly an exhorbitant fee for tuning a piano, but this nontheless was his pay for one entire days work. monetarily speaking. But again, this was secondary. He achieved the same degree of profficiency in paiano tuning as he did in playing the saxaphone in the band. He mastered and then taught upholstery and tutored students in voice. His life and home was filled with kids from the School for the Blind. Perhaps his greatest achievement and surely that which brought him the most happiness, was his marrying Geneva. She became his eyes. Through her eyes he saw, remembered and described the sights and scenes of a hundred incidents, a thousand places and a million memories! Albert had a computer memory. Last summer, on a trip to a fishing camp in Wyoming, he doxed in the back of the camper, during the six hour trip. Then suddenly without warning e appeared behind me as I drove and cautioned me that the turnoff the main highway was coming up in about one half a mile. Three hundred miles of mountainous driving and he sought to advise me where the turn was! Well he missed ... by one tenth of a mile! No, I don't know how he did it. I'd much rather just remember how vividly he loved to describe thinggs. Like the afternoon he and Geneva were fishing and a very young deer came down the mountainside and slowly inched is way closer and closer to the lake. Stopping and looking around, checking for danger, advancing a little at a time till finally he reached the water's edge. How did Albert know it was a young deer? Because, through Geneva's eyes and his heart, he could see clearer and more vividly than you or I. His pictures weren't cluttered with superficial material as ours are. He painted on his own canvas! I guess if one were to enmuerate his greatest love, after Geneva, it would have to be fishing! If it lived in Water, salt of fresh; he fished for it, he hunted it and captured it, cleaned it, cooked it and ate it. From the Gulf to the Pacific, on piers, docks, or boats, in boots, waders, or wetsuit, he pursued the elusive one that got away. But not all got away. He made headlines in Texas when he caught his 338 pound Jewfish, And he laughed with the rest of us when he landd a two inch perch. He experienced the joy of hunting Elk, Deer, ducks and rabbits, He was gunbearer, skinner, and toter. Once again, Geneva was his eyes. He was as profficient on water skiis as he was at mountain climbing. I think the only regret I ever heard him voice was that he never found the time to learn snow skiing. But there's no doubt. had he attempted it, he would have mastered it. In business he once again excelled. Jones Furniture Store, Jones Mattress Factory, The Modern Aire Motel, the beautiful homes he built in the mountains. And his last venture, The Caramel Crisp Shop in Estes Park. This wasa man who lived every bit of life. Nurtred and cherished all his friends. Had a total and uncompromising love for all his family and asked nothing in return except the love and respect of his peers. Albert Jones leaves us today not with void or emptyness in our hearts, but rather he leaves us a herritage far greater thn any materialistic momorial could portray. He leaves us a legacy of teaching. By his way of life.By his way of life, he taught us perservercence, compassion, understanding, logic, determination and last but certainly not least, that which he was so admired for, his infinite patience. When you leave here today don't go in sadness, but rather, rejoyce in the knowladge that because he had touched each of us in some way. each of our lives have been enriched. I, personally thank God for allowing me the privilege of sharing in a part of the life of "the Greatest Man I Have Ever Known," Albert Lloyd Jones.
