L. Hess Found Dead Tuesday: Mr. Hess was born Aug 17, 1872 north of California, Missouri, the son of Dennis and Jeremiah Elizabeth (Vaughan) Hess. He was married four times. The first time he was married to Ollie M. Karstetter of Clarksburg. She died February 12, 1913. The names of two of his wives were not available. His present wife is Mrs. Florence Hess who lives at Spirit Lake, Iowa. He is also survived by three sons, Frank Hess, of Arnold Park, Iowa; Ben G. Hess, of Janesville, Wisconsin; and Lloyd Hess, Sioux City, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ehireich, of Marshall, Minnesota; and Mrs. Alice Kains, of North Hampton, Ohio, Children by the first marriage. All of them were born at Clarksburg. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. John Schmolzi, in this city. Mr. Hess attended the Hooper Institute in Clarksburg and took a course in vocational agriculture at the University of Missouri. He was a veteran of World War I. He was discharged from service in 1919 at Fort Sheridan, Wy. He had a civil service position as farm agent in the U.S. Department of Indian Affairs and served at the Winnebago Standing Rock Reservation and Rosebud Reservation teaching the Sioux Indians in the Northwest. He retired in 1935. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was a nephew of the late Ambrose Hess. According to his request the body was taken to the Wilson Funeral Home. Mrs. Everett Wilson is a cousin of Albert L. Hess. Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Chapel at 2 o'clock this Thursday. Walter M. Meyer of Sedalia will officiate. Mrs. Jack P. Crawford and Mrs. Forest Katschman will sing, accompanied by Miss Ruth Longan, organist. Burial will be in the Sappington Cemetery near Clarksburg, by the side of the grave of his first wife.
