Read More	Obituary from the Independent Record newspaper: Albert Patrick "Bunchy" Haab, 90, of Clancy, died Thursday evening, April 15, 2004, at a local care facility in Helena. Bunchy was born in Helena on March 17, 1914 to John and Kate Haab. He was raised in Jefferson County and graduated from Jefferson County High School. Bunchy remained a resident of Jefferson County his entire life and helped form the Clancy Volunteer Fire Department. He worked for Winston Brothers on a dredge, after which he worked on the Haab Homestead, and for the State of Montana Highway Department as a temporary snow plow operator on Boulder Hill from 1935 to 1947. In 1946, Bunchy started working part-time for the railroad as a warehouseman, retiring from the railroad in 1967. Bunchy was elected and served as a Jefferson County Commissioner, from 1963 to 1971. He was also a past member of the Eagle Lodge in Helena. Bunchy was the last of the Clancy old-timers. He was a very well known, loved and respected individual by the Clancy community. During his life, Bunchy acquired great knowledge and history of the Clancy area. Often the community would ask him for that knowledge and information. He was quick witted, enjoyed socializing, and trusted person who never locked his door. During the last few years of his life he liked to travel the back roads and country of Jefferson County to socialize. Bunchy enjoyed a full life with a multitude of lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, John, Gus, William and Fred and one sister Thane Haab. He is survived by his nephews, Ken Haab of Helena, Dick Haab of Edmonds, Wash., Robert Haab of Clancy; nieces, Gladys Regan of Great Falls, Lorna Campbell of East Helena, Norma Hanna of Clancy, and his sister-in-law Daphne Haab of Clancy. Bunchy was also survived by the many many friends he came to know in his lifetime. Come join Bunchy's family and friends at a memorial service in celebration of his life at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 23, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery later in the spring. Memorials in Bunchy's name are suggested to the Clancy Volunteer Fire Department, Clancy, MT 59634 or to an organization of the donor's choice. Retz Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
