Description	:	**From: Truman Bratteli Albert Tolstad was born on August 2, 1902 at home on the farm homesteaded by his father, Sever Tolstad, in 1881. He was one of four children born to Sever and Karen Tolstad. He was baptized in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Dazey, North Dakota in October of 1902, confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City, North Dakota where he also received his education, graduating from Valley City High School in 1921. He was one of four children born to Sever and Karen Tolstad. He was baptized in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Dazey, North Dakota in October of 1902, confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City, North Dakota where he also received his education, graduating from Valley City High School in 1921. He attended Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota for two years. He took over the farm homesteaded by his father in 1923. Albert married Johanna Berg, daughter of Jonas and Elizabeth Berge, in 1931. Johanna was born in 1908 one and one-half miles from the Tolstad homestead, baptized in September of 1908 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Dazey, North Dakota, and confirmed in November 1923 at Our Saviour's, Dazey. She received her grade school education at the Edna School District #49 and graduated from Dazey High School in 1926. To this union four children were born. Alan (1931) is a teacher in Lompoc, California and is married to Eunice Nolen. Ronald (1934) is the owner of a body shop in Valley City, and is married to Billie Ledbury. Ray (1936) works at Center, North Dakota for the Baukol-Noon Coal Mining Company. This coal company provides all of the coal necessary for electric power generation at the Milton R. Young Plant. Ray is married to Darlene Anderson. Jo-Ann (1939), her husband Buddy and two sons, Steven, age 14 and Byron, 11 moved on to the home place in the fall of 1982 from Forney, Texas.
