Description	:	LAUREL — Albert Samuel Ehrlick passed away at Riverstone Horizon Home on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2011. Al was born June 20, 1924, in Laurel to Samuel and Mary (Manweiler) Ehrlick. He was the second of nine children. He lived his entire life in Laurel and was very active in the community. On Oct. 11, 1944, he married LaVera Rose Olson in Red Lodge. Al was born June 20, 1924, in Laurel to Samuel and Mary (Manweiler) Ehrlick. He was the second of nine children. He lived his entire life in Laurel and was very active in the community. On Oct. 11, 1944, he married LaVera Rose Olson in Red Lodge. LaVera passed away on Sept. 1, 2007. They were blessed with three children, Linda (Jerry) Broderson, Darrell (Sally) Ehrlick, and Guy (Teresa) Ehrlick. Al worked at the Cenex Refinery for over 40 years, retiring in 1984. He was a proud union member during his entire employment with the Refinery. It was important to Al to keep busy, so he maintained a side business of fabricating metal step railings, clothesline posts and picnic table ends. When he decided to stop the fabricating business, he began buying houses that needed repairs. He would do the repairs himself and then rent them. That still wasn't enough for him, so he took up locksmithing. Folks were always knocking on his door to make a key, change a lock, or help them into a building that they were locked out of. Al was very active in local politics. He was born a Democrat and believed that God had to be one. There was no other party as far he was concerned. He served as a Laurel city alderman two different times and also served one term as Laurel mayor. He was very active in the Yellowstone County Democratic Party. Talking politics was definitely one passion he had his entire life. Al was predeceased by his parents; his loving spouse and all but three of his sisters, Millie (Tom) Schumacher, Elma Cook, and Dorothy Weishaar. He is survived by his three children and their spouses; six grandchildren, Daron Faught, Dalayna (Colin) Hillis, Darrell (Angela) Ehrlick, Melannie (Jacob) Nienaber, Jake (Ashley) Ehrlick, and Nathan Ehrlick; six great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Don (Shirley) Olson; sister-in-laws, Lorrine Ehrlick, Esther Knaub and Bertha Craven; and, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at First Congregational Church in Laurel. Burial will follow immediately after the funeral at Laurel Cemetery. Memorials can be made to First Congregational Church, Yellowstone County Council on Aging; or the charity of one's choice.
