Description	:	Albert was born the son of August and Florence (Van Waus) Van Thournout in rural Victor, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm and attended country school through the eight grade at Hartford No.8. He helped his father with the farming. Albert entered the Navy in 1954 and was discharged in 1958. He was a 3rd Class TM on the Destroyer USS Tingley during the Korean Conflict. Read More	Albert was born the son of August and Florence (Van Waus) Van Thournout in rural Victor, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm and attended country school through the eight grade at Hartford No.8. He helped his father with the farming. Albert entered the Navy in 1954 and was discharged in 1958. He was a 3rd Class TM on the Destroyer USS Tingley during the Korean Conflict. They farmed near Broolyn and Belle Plaine and then moved to his family farm near Victor in 1968. He worked at salebarns and most recently at the Marengo Publishing Company which he retired from June 1, 2007. He was a member of St. Michaels Church in Belle Plaine and the Victor American Legion. Albert loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, dancing, reading and playing cards. Albert is survived by his wife, daughter and son, two sisters, three brothers and many nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by an infant son, parents, brother robert VanThournout, and infant twin sisters Mary and Margaret.
