Read More	Obituary A fatal accident happened on Monday last at Werris Creek to Mr. Albert Uriah Hibbert, well-known in this district, of which he was a native. Deceased was a son of Mr. Joseph Hibbert, of Freeman's Beach, and had for some years been an officer in the Railway Department. He was for a considerable time stationed at Windsor and later on at Riverstone. Some time ago he was removed to the North, and was located at Werris Creek Junction where his untimely death occurred. The particulars to hand regarding the accident which culminated in his death are very meagre, but the evidence given at an inquest held at Quirindi, to which place the injured man had been removed served to show that Hibbert, whilst coupling sheep-cages to a van, was probably caught by the drawhooks. Bruises were discovered under the left breast and in the region of the heart. He died in the van, whilst being conveyed to Quirindi. A verdict of accidental death was returned, no blame being attached to any person. It is customary, it appears, for shunters to stand within the buffers of one truck whilst the engine is moving another up to it to be coupled, and the task of effecting this is at times a very risky one. The deceased officer was very highly thought of by a large circle of friends in this district, and the news of his death was received with great regret. He was always most courteous and obliging, and as an officer was known to be thoroughly efficient in fact, he took a keen interest in the duties appertaining to his position and was making good progress in the department. Mr Hibbert leaves a wife and one child, Mrs Hibbert being sister to Mrs George Sommers, late of Windsor. He was 27 years of age. The notification of his death was conveyed by Dr. Callaghan to Mr. Hibbert, Snr., who for some time has been seriously ill, and it may be imagined that the shock which followed did not improve his prospects of recovery. The remains were brought by rail from the North to Richmond by the early goods train on Wednesday. The cortege proceeded to St. Peter's Church, and then to the cemetery. The Rev J Howell Price officiated at the grave, and Mr E Marlin acted as undertaker. The funeral was largely attended.
