Description	:	Albert Gudeman Sr., retired farmer and surveyor died at the family home at four pm Friday April 5, at the age of 97 years 8 months. He had been ill for over 12 weeks, having submitted to a major operation January 15 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient for 6 weeks. Read More	Albert Gudeman Sr., retired farmer and surveyor died at the family home at four pm Friday April 5, at the age of 97 years 8 months. He had lived at his country home southwest of Francesville with his three children, Esther, Sidney and Melvin. Born at Dillon, Illinois, August 5, 1859. The son of Frederick and Anna Marie Minger Gudeman. He was the last survivor of the children of this union consisting of eight brothers and one sister. In the year March 14, 1886 he was united in marriage with Louise Leman of Metamore, Ill., who proceeded him in death May 1st, 1936. Over 50 years ago he with his wife and family moved to Francesville vicinity which was then a swamp area and purchased his present 240 acre farm home. Being a surveyor by trade, Mr. Gudeman realized the needs of this community and soon set forth after his own establishment to survey most of the farm lands in the Francesville Prairie and neighboring communities. In 1939 his farm won the 6th annual "Chicagolands Neatest Dairy Farm Contest" sponsored by the Pure Milk Association from over 14,000 farms. He leaves to mourn his loss, twelve children, seven sons and five daughters. Esther, Sidney and Melvin at home. Mrs. William Kahler, Roe, John and Sam and Mrs. Edward Onken all of Francesville, Walter of Monon, Albert Jr., of Medaryville, Mrs. Sol Rapp of Morton, Ill., and Mrs. Don Geef of Peoria, Ill., also eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren, besides a host of friends and relatives. A man of strong Christian character, he was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, devoted to his family, a loving father, grandfather and a good neighbor, also loyal to his fellowmen. Short services were held Monday 1 o'clock pm by Rev. Phillip Gutwein and 1:30 pm at the Apostolic Christian Church by Rev. Joe A. Getz of Morton, Ill. Six of his grandsons were pall bearers.
