Oakland Independent (NE); 14 Nov 1913; p1 Albert Westlin, a prominent farmer of west of Uehling, came to his death last Sunday morning as a result of injuries sustained in an accidental fall from his wagon while driving home from Uehling. There was no eye witness to the accident which occurred just west of the Burlington tracks. He was found, apparently a few moments after his fall, and in intervals of consciousness he explained that he had experienced a fainting spell and had fallen from the wagon. It appears that he had been subject to such spells for several days before. He was taken to the office of Dr. Parsons at Uehling, and it was found that he had struck squarely on his head and had injured his spine. As a consequence his body was paralyzed from the head down. A specialist was called from Omaha; and upon his recommendation the injured man was removed to an Omaha hospital. It was found that nothing could be done, however, and on Sunday morning Westlin passed away. Westlin was born in Dodge county and has been a resident of the community all his life. He was but forty years old, and thus death came when he was in his manhood's prime. His wife was Miss Anna Anderson before marriage. She survives him with four children, two sons and two daughters. Two brothers, August and Ola, of Dodge county, and two sisters of Wayne, Nebr., are the near surviving relatives. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from the Swedish Lutheran Church at Swaburg and from the home. Rev. M.B. Harrison, of Hooper, officiated.
