Description	:	Alberta de Vries, age 81, of Pella, Iowa passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. Alberta was born on November 19, 1935, in Littleton, Colorado, the third of six children born to Gysbert and Adrianna (Boerefyn) Beekhuizen. She married John S. de Vries on February 10, 1956, at the home of her parents' near Leighton, Iowa and together they had seven children whom they raised at Pella, Iowa. Alberta was born on November 19, 1935, in Littleton, Colorado, the third of six children born to Gysbert and Adrianna (Boerefyn) Beekhuizen. She married John S. de Vries on February 10, 1956, at the home of her parents' near Leighton, Iowa and together they had seven children whom they raised at Pella, Iowa. Alberta loved baking and cooking, was always willing to volunteer her time and baking skills to provide food for others and received many awards for her baking. She honed her cooking skills at Central College where she worked as a cook for 40 years. Alberta was a skilled seamstress, enjoyed embroidery and making puzzles. She volunteered at The Windmill in Pella during Tulip Time and throughout the summer. Alberta and John traveled extensively spending many winters in Florida; she most enjoyed visiting family and friends. Alberta was a quiet woman; her hard work and accomplishments often went unnoticed and without accolades. She always put the needs of her children and husband above her own. She generously donated her time and talent to the community in various ways. She loved hymns and was a long time member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella.
