Description	:	Alberta Marie Meier was born January 20, 1915, the daughter of William and Ida (Schlange) Bohling in rural Auburn, Hickory Grove, Nebraska. She graduated from country school and attended Auburn High School. Alberta was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hickory Grove. She married Harry H. Meier of West Point, NE, on October 10, 1939 and lived most of her life on the Meier family farm southeast of West Point. This family farm was in the family for over 100 years. Read More	Alberta Marie Meier was born January 20, 1915, the daughter of William and Ida (Schlange) Bohling in rural Auburn, Hickory Grove, Nebraska. She graduated from country school and attended Auburn High School. Alberta was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hickory Grove. She married Harry H. Meier of West Point, NE, on October 10, 1939 and lived most of her life on the Meier family farm southeast of West Point. This family farm was in the family for over 100 years. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on October 3, 1967. She moved into West Point in 1969 and was employed at Bernard Sundries, West Point Public School lunch program and then Wimmer's Meats from which she retired. Alberta was actively involved in volunteer work at the Sunshine Center, the West Point Living Center and Grace Lutheran Church. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1939. Alberta resided at St. Joseph's Retirement Community in West Point from November 2005 until moving to the West Point Living Center on April 22, 2011. Alberta is survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses; Eugene and Evelyn Meier of Plattsmouth, NE; Joyce and Lyle Metzger of Grand Island, NE; and Kenton and Sue Meier of Fremont, NE. She is also survived by ten grandchildren. Deb and Kent Colgrove and Lori Meier of Plattsmouth, NE; Jane and Jerry Steffes of Omaha, NE; Nancy and Steve Robeson of Adams, NE; Steven and Kate Metzger of Grand Island, NE; Susan and Tom Walker of Omaha, NE; David Metzger of New York, NY; Dr. Karen and Jonathan Rogers of Lynchburg, VA; Kevin Meier, and Kristen and Brian Fischer all of Nashville, TN. Also surviving are 16 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Surviving her also is one sister in law, Betty Bohling of Auburn, NE, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Walter and Virgil Bohling; one sister Hazel Dunekacke; one sister in law, Rosa Pearl Bohling; and one brother in law, Henry Dunekacke; all of Auburn, NE. Also preceding her death were the spouses of two of her grandchildren. Alberta was an avid card player and enjoyed going to the many sporting and musical events of her family throughout the years. Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church.
